Local Citizen Corps Councils
Local Citizen Corps Councils are part of the USA Freedom Corps and have been established as the result of a presidential initiative after the September 11th tragedy. The purpose of forming local Citizen Corps Councils throughout Texas is to focus on opportunities for Texas to participate in a range of volunteer measures to make their families, homes, and communities safer from the threats of terrorism, crime, and disasters of all kinds. State Citizen Corps Council
The Office of the Governor has established an advisory group of leading public officials and citizens to serve as the State Citizen Corps Council. This body will advise on program direction, grant criteria, and local needs.
