The Coastal Bend Council of Governments is a voluntary association of local governments, city and county, formed to provide a cost-effective way to plan, coordinate, and obtain information and technical assistance. All authority to act resides in the full membership which meets monthly. All twelve counties in Region 20 are members of the CBCOG and thirty-two cities have held membership for many years. Advisory committees represent a cross section of the region and its varied interests. Committees hold hearings, compile and analyze information, review applications, and make recommendations to the CBCOG on matters of interest. The CBCOG is designated as an Area Agency on Aging and is also an Economic Development District. The CBCOG contracts with the state to deliver criminal justice services, solid waste and water quality management planning, and emergency communications (9-1-1) planning and implementation.
Meeting Dates:
The General Membership meets every month on the 4th Friday, except November, with no meeting scheduled to avoid Thanksgiving, and it meets on the 2nd Friday in December to avoid Christmas. The Executive Board currently meets every other month.
