Tom Green County CERT Assists at Shelter for Women and Children from YFZ Ranch
The Tom Green County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was recently called into action by local officials after women and children who identify themselves as members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were removed from the group’s YFZ Ranch near Eldorado, in rural Schleicher County. The women and children were placed into shelter facilities in San Angelo in what has been described as is one of the largest child custody operations in the nation’s history. CAPCOG Facilitates Regional Coordination
The Capital Area Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CARTPO), the rural planning organization of the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) in Austin, Texas, provides a connection between state transportation agencies, local elected officials and stakeholders to coordinate transportation planning for a ten-county region. CARTPO recommends changes in policy and practice, advocates for legislation, recommends regional priorities and directs certain planning and data initiatives. The Texas Association of Regional Councils is the state organization of Texas' 24 regional councils of governments.
